Academic Program
University of Wisconsin-Green Bay
The Professional Program in Nursing at UW-Green Bay specializes in RN to BSN education and is built upon the foundation of the Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
Liberal Credit Transfer Policy: Students may transfer a total of 90 of the 120 degree credits required for graduation. Registered Nurses (RN’s), currently licensed by any state in the United States, typically transfer 60 credits from their Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing. To finish the BSN, the program includes 30 credits of upper level nursing classes combined with 30 credits of general education and “nursing support” courses. Students can take all of the remaining courses through UW-Green Bay. Alternatively, additional credits completed at other universities, colleges, or community colleges usually transfer, provided a minimum of 30 degree credits are completed at UW-Green Bay.
Flexible Learning Options/Schedule: We offer the same program through two online tracks and one campus track to maximize program access. “BSN-LINC” is our online track designed for students living outside of Wisconsin. “BSN@Home” is the online track for Wisconsin students. Online students never need travel to campus. Online courses are offered asynchronously meaning that students can log in to their assignments any time of the day whenever their schedules allow, even late nights or weekends.
Our “Campus Track” is for students living within driving distance of Green Bay wishing to attend “face to face” classes on our campus. Campus courses typically are offered in blocks on one day of the week or during evening hours.
No Program Completion Deadline: Most of our students are working adults. Students can decide to enroll part-time or full-time, whichever works best for them. They can take semesters off and return without having to start over or pay a new application fee.
Personal Advising: All students will have a nursing program advisor. The advisors are there to help throughout every step of the program starting with free credit transfer consultation even before applying and proceeding through application to preparing academic plans, recommending courses, assisting with registration, degree progress analysis and graduation preparations.
Faculty Understand Working Adults: Our faculty are not only current in the field of Nursing, they are attuned to the needs of working adults. They are available during non-traditional hours, supportive with coaching on technology and learning, and understand the challenges of being a practicing nurse.
Accreditation: University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Online RN to BSN Completion Program is part of the highly respected University of Wisconsin System. The program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
