Changing the term Minority
I have avoided joining this group because I do not consider myself a "minority." Minority means less than. While it is sadly true that nurses of color are in a numerical minority across the nation, people of color are quickly becoming the new majority in this country. I would like to see a movement for finding a new name for this organization. I think it would make a great contest. Here are some ideas Nurses of Color, Diverse Nurses, Multicultural Nurses, or Diversity in Nursing. What do you think?
