JOB DESCRIPTION
American International College (AIC) is searching for a Dean for the School of Health Sciences to provide for the leadership, design, organization, delivery, supervision, assessment and fiscal management of the programs within the School of Health Sciences: Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy. The Dean coordinates efforts of the school’s administrative, faculty, and support team facilitating the goal of excellence through the instructional efforts of the school.
AIC was founded on July 18, 1885. It was chartered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on September 18, 1885 with the purpose of educating international immigrants who were coming to America through New York. That is where the College’s commitment to diversity, flexibility and understanding began. They came to America to pursue a dream and AIC was founded to ensure their success.
Today AIC is a private, four year comprehensive coeducational institution located in the geographic center of Springfield, Massachusetts. The college is interracial, interfaith and international. Liberal arts serve as the core in all academic areas. The college is organized into schools of Art, Education and Sciences; Business Administration; Health Sciences.
AIC offers undergraduate nursing and masters’ degrees in Nursing Education and Nursing Administration. The college also offers a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and confers an entry-level doctoral degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) that reflects the scope and depth of knowledge and clinical experience to meet or exceed entry level practice standards of the profession.
AIC is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, The National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification, The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, The American Physical Therapy Association, and the Accreditation Council for Occupational Health and Business Accreditation with the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold an earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education and academic preparation in nursing, occupational therapy, or physical therapy. At least five (5) years experience in higher education preferably at the department chair level or above. Candidates must have the ability to maintain communication with administration, faculty, staff, and students and be able to maintain/foster community relationships and work with diverse populations. In addition, they must have strong reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

The Dean of Health Sciences is a full-time, twelve (12) month, exempt position with benefits.
