The School of Nursing at West Virginia Wesleyan seeks a dynamic Director to provide vision and leadership for our growing program which includes both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Director of the School of Nursing will be a dedicated and visionary academic leader with a distinguished record in teaching, scholarship and clinical practice, and a commitment to nursing education. The Director will have proven skills in communication, consensus-building, management and advocacy. The successful candidate will be a nurse who holds a PhD or equivalent.
The Director of the School of Nursing is responsible for all administrative duties in the School, supervises Faculty in the School, and assists in coordination, evaluation and reporting as required to achieve and maintain state and national accreditation of the programs. The Director leads planning, implementation, administration, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of all academic curricula, support services and administrative functions of the School. He/She will engage in teaching/scholarship and Curriculum planning. The Director reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. He/She serves on the Council of School Directors and also is a member of the college-wide Strategic Planning Committee.
The School of Nursing, which is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and approved by the State of West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Nurses, has grown over the past four years from 40 to 140 undergraduate students. The MSN degree has four concentrations and is in candidacy for NLN accreditation.
Founded in 1890, West Virginia Wesleyan is a private residential liberal arts and sciences college of 1450 undergraduate and graduate students located in the foothills of the Appalachians in Buckhannon, WV, named one of the “100 Best Small Towns in America.” The College is related to the United Methodist Church, with a curriculum committed to intellectual rigor, self-discovery, human dignity, mutual support, social justice, self-discipline, mental and physical wellness, the appreciation of diversity and the natural world, and the judicious use of resources. The College has over 40 undergraduate academic majors, 10 graduate programs, 19 NCAA Division II sports, comprehensive student life, community engagement, and outdoor recreation programs.
