The College operates four satellite campuses in the greater Boston area located at the Education and Training Institute of the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center in East Boston, at Malden High School, at the Mystic Activity Center in Somerville, and at Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción (I.B.A.)/Villa Victoria in Boston's South End.Founded in 1973, BHCC enrolls approximately 13,000 students in day, afternoon, evening, late-evening, midnight, weekend, and web-based and distance-learning courses and programs each semester. The College is internationally recognized for the development of individualized and alternative methods of instruction. The College is a leader in the application of distance-learning technologies and computer-based methodologies that enhance and strengthen the learning environment.

BHCC is the largest community college in Massachusetts. The average age of students is 27. More than half of BHCC's students are women and 63 percent are persons of color. The majority work full or part time while attending college. Approximately 35 percent of BHCC's students reside in the city of Boston and 81 percent live within 10 miles of the College campuses.

Bunker Hill Community College incorporates multicultural and international perspectives in its courses, programs and institutional climate. Job Description:

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC), a dynamic institution with more than 13,000 credit students is the largest community college in Massachusetts. It is also one of the most diverse institutions of higher education in New England, with 65% students of color and international students from more than 93 countries. A multi-campus urban institution, BHCC has locations in Boston and the adjacent city of Chelsea as well as satellites in several nearby communities. Students choose from more than 98 degree and certificate programs as well as Adult Basic Education, an online college and programs offered through the Center for Workforce Development and Community Education. Courses are offered days, evenings, weekends, and at midnight.

FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY REQUIREMENTS: BHCC seeks full-time faculty who demonstrate a passion for teaching and a desire to join faculty and staff to expand and create new strategies for student success. Faculty must be experienced in teaching in learning communities or willing to become proficient in learning community pedagogy and practice once hired, as well as be adept in the assessment of learning outcomes and in the use of technology in the classroom. Additionally, BHCC seeks faculty who value advising students and wish to contribute fully to the life of the College. Faculty may be assigned courses at one or more of the College’s locations. Ability to instruct online is a plus. Further, applicants must have proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Program Director for the Practical Nursing Program will report to the Dean of Nurse Education, Medical Imaging and Respiratory Therapy and will be responsible for the organization, administration, periodic review, planning, development and general effectiveness of the Practical Nursing Program. The Director will be responsible for meeting Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN) requirements and National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) accreditation standards. The Program Director will teach didactic and clinical courses.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Teach Practical Nursing courses
• Provide clinical instruction to Practical Nursing Program students
• Evaluate, maintain and assess clinical affiliates to ensure that these sites provide students with education that meets the standards of quality for accreditation
• Evaluate student performance in the classroom and clinical setting using outcomes-based assessment.
• Utilize a variety of appropriate teaching strategies to promote students’ critical thinking skills.
• Develop instructional material consistent with course objectives.
• Participate in determining appropriate goals and objectives of practical nursing courses and assist in developing course standards.
• Teach in learning communities and engage students in community service.
• Use new simulations and computer technologies in the classroom.
• Maintain expertise and currency in the area of teaching responsibility.
• Comply with the duties as stipulated in the Massachusetts Community College Council Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Nursing and current licensure or eligibility as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
• Five years experience in Nursing or its equivalent within the last eight years
• Three years teaching experience in Nurse Education

Additional Information:

SALARY RANGE: $60,000.00-$64,000.00. ACTUAL SALARY WILL BE COMMENSURATE WITH EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MCCC/MTA. COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT. RELOCATION STIPEND MAY BE AVAILABLE.
