Pfizer Inc. recently announced that Yvonne Jackson has been named to lead the company’s global HR efforts as senior vice president of Corporate Human Resources. She has also been appointed to the Pfizer Leadership Team (PLT), the company’s senior executive governing body, which consists of Hank McKinnell, Pfizer’s chairman and chief executive officer, and seven other members.
Jackson is now responsible for the overall strategy development and execution of Pfizer’s company-wide human resources policies and initiatives. She also oversees the company’s leadership development, compensation and benefits, and HR service delivery programs that reach 130,000 employees worldwide. In addition, she leads the Human Resources Leadership Team, a group of Pfizer senior executives representing all business units and staff groups, and is responsible for implementing the company’s global human resources strategies.
Prior to joining Pfizer in November 2002, Jackson headed Human Resources at Compaq Computer Corporation and Burger King. Her experience includes progressive leadership responsibilities with Avon Products and with Sears, Roebuck & Company.
“Yvonne is an outstanding addition to our leadership team, bringing with her a wealth of experience in human resources,” says McKinnell. “I am confident that Yvonne and her team will be instrumental in helping Pfizer reap the benefits of our larger scale, and help us develop a new generation of leaders from diverse backgrounds and viewpoints, all well prepared to move Pfizer ahead in this challenging environment.”
A native of Los Angeles, Jackson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Spelman College and holds a Management Development Certificate from Harvard Business School. She currently serves as vice chairman of the board of trustees for Spelman College, and is also a member of the board of the Institute for Women’s Policy Research and the advisory board of Catalyst, the non-profit research and advisory organization that works to advance women in business.
