Response to CRNA Program/ Lena Gould, CRNA, MSN

Hello Future Nurse Anesthesia Student!

Congratulations on being accepted into a nurse anesthesia program! I want you to read a few things in preparation for actual enrollment in May. First, I want you to go onto the Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program website, www.diversitycrna.org and on the homepage, click on my article, Guide to CRNA Admission. You will learn more information from Hispanic CRNAs and SRNAs on how they prepared financially and academically prior to enrollment. Also discussed is the rigor of the program, studying component, and clinicalexpectations.

Second, I want you to purchase an anesthesia textbook, Morgan & McCail's Clinical Anesthesiology and start reading the first 5 - 8 chapters multiple times. You will be very familiar with the terminology when school is in session. Referring back to the Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program website, click on CRNAs/SRNAs and on the immediate left side, view the five minute nurse anesthesia video of CRNAs and SRNAs reviewing the anesthesia machine and related equipment. Very informational!

You can always email for further information as well. I can forward you more anesthesia information for advance reading prior to actual enrollment. Please email me at crna4u@comcast.net.
